Ronchi, in the dialect of Friuli, means hills cultivated with vines. Cialla is a small valley surrounded by woods with chestnut, oak and wild cherry trees, in the DOP. Ronchi di Cialla is an historical Friulian estate and it is strictly a family business. The vines here are over 40 years old, all grown on the classic eocenic marl soils of Colli Orientali. After harvest, the wine is fermented in stainless steel and aged for 3 months on the fine lees. This 2017 is ripe and savory with bright, clean fruit flavors of pear and candied lemon complimented by notes of raw walnuts. The wine is medium bodied and fresh with a dense palate and layers that lead into a long, appetite inducing finish. Pair with smoked fish, assorted cheeses and fresh pasta dishes.
