Tuesday, October 14th, from 7:15pm - 9:00pm

Can Sumoi is the high altitude and low intervention project from Pepe Raventós of the celebrated Raventós i Blanc (don't call it Cava) winery. Can Sumoi focuses entirely on still wine and mono-varietal ancestral method sparklers made from indigenous, mountaintop varieties. The stunning 400-hectare estate of Can Sumoi sits at over six hundred meters of altitude in the Serra de l’Home mountain range in Spain’s northeastern Penedès region.

The Raventós i Blanc estate, which has belonged to the Raventós family since 1497, covers 300 acres of vineyards, woodlands and a lake in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia. Following this line of succession, in 1872 Josep Raventós Fatjó made the first bottle-fermented wine in Spain using native grapes from this estate. In November 2012, the family decided to leave the DO Cava and create their own more strictly defined and geographically specific appellation: Conca del Riu Anoia.

Join us Tuesday, October 14th, from 7:15pm - 9:00pm at UnWined as Can Sumoi winemaker Arnau Vivó takes us through a selection of wines from both estates. Some highlights will be Can Sumoi's ancestral method Montonega, Xarel-lo, and Garnatxa-Sumoll blend, with Pepe Raventos' Bastard Negre (Graciano), and Raventós i Blanc's classic "de Nit" Rosé.

You won't want to miss this! Expertly paired heavy snacks will be prepared by Chef Madeline to keep us focused as we learn.
