Mastrojanni San Pio Toscana 2021 (BV 6-5)

Aged about 18 months in French oak barrels, this Sangiovese/Cab Sauv blend pours a deep ruby red and opens on the tongue with a captivating mix of fresh dark fruit, red cherry, and warm spices, with subtle herbal and vanilla notes from the oak.  On the palate, smooth and expressive tannins lean towards blackberry, plum, and a touch of peppery tobacco.  Juicy and balanced, bold and rich, but still wonderfully approachable!
