Oak Farm Vineyards Tievoli Red Blend Lodi 2017
With a reputation for bulk wine and table grapes, very little quality wine has emerged from the expansive Central Valley since companies likeFranzia and Gallo staked their claim there many years ago. The exceptionare new wine ventures in sub-AVAs like Lodi and Clarksburg, home tojammy zinfandels, surprisingly distinguished chenin blancs and more. From a historic property in Lodi, the Oak Farm Vineyards was founded in 1864 and is one of the oldest remaining family estates in the Central Valley. Their 2016 Tievoli is a blend of head trained, old vine Zinfandel, Barbera and Petite Sirah hand harvested and fermented in tank, then aged in a combination of French and American oak for approximately 10 months. Its brambly fruit and autumnal spice are irresistibly charming and a tasty companion to comforting stews.
