The Mettler Family's wine roots date back to the 1770s, with six generations farming vineyards in California's Central Valley. In the 1940's Carl Mettler took the family's viticultural focus to the next level, working closely with nearby Universities to establish ideal growing conditions for specific varieties that thrive in the Lodi region, including Zinfandel, Petite Sirah and Bordeaux varieties.
Today, Larry Mettler - the youngest of Carl's three sons - still farms the original Mettler Vineyards with the passion and love for the land that his father passed on. The estate vineyards are farmed sustainably and organically with a commitment to practices that enhance biodiversity and vine health, including cover crops, composting, and disease control through trellising, shoot positioning and leaf removal. Over the years, their premium vineyards have produced grapes for many well-known wineries in the area, and in 2001, they released the first vintage under the family label - Mettler Cabernet Sauvignon.
