Domaine Lapierre is famously one of the original Gang of Four, a group of vignerons from Beaujolais using the traditional methods of Beaujolais to produce “natural wine" by employing old practices of viticulture and vinification: starting with old vines, never using synthetic herbicides or pesticides, harvesting late, rigorously sorting to remove all but the healthiest grapes, adding minimal doses of sulfur dioxide or none at all, and disdaining chaptalization. 2020 Raisins Gaulois from Domaine Lapierre is their young vine cuvée grown mostly within the Morgon cru, but not labeled as such as the yields exceed the regulations. These high yields prevent excessive concentration and show the low in alcohol, bright and juicy side of Gamay. The perfect picnic wine.
