Lanny Chillable Red/Pinot Noir Willamette Valley 2018
Lanny is our Pinot Noir-focused project named in honor of our owner's father in law, who would have celebrated 78 years this holiday season. Lanny's first vinous expression was made by the winemaking team at Del Dotto and sourced from their revered Fort Ross Seaview, Sonoma Coast estate. The new Lanny bottlings are equally impressive and expertly crafted for us by Antica Terra's Maggie Harrison from organically farmed Willamette and Santa Barbara vineyards. Her approach is less on making wines consistently from one parcel or another. In Maggie's own words, "as with all wines that I make, I am not committed to any outcome (number of cuvées, percentage of new oak or alcohol, cépage, etc.); instead, I prefer to work at the most granular level, making decisions for each vine, each micro block, fermenter and barrel independently, focusing only on the most compelling reflection of that vintage in our cellar and in our hands.
Lanny was an accomplished father and educator. This vibrantly-hued Pinot Noir honors his legacy and our family's passion for life, learning, and advocacy. From meticulously farmed vineyards throughout the Willamette Valley, the hand-harvested grapes are carefully sorted, then vinified as a Rosé, spending up to 2 days on the skins before pressing. Fermentation is spontaneous and the resulting wine is aged on the lees for five months followed by an additional year in mostly neutral oak before bottling. Enjoy its vivid, tangy cherry fruit, fleshy mouthfeel and earthy undertones with a solid chill.
