JAX Vineyards sources this estate Cabernet Sauvignon from the family’s vineyard in northern Calistoga. David Jackson purchased the family vineyard after 5 years of searching for his ideal terroir encompassing alluvial loam soil, dry farmed vineyards, and the elemental protection of our little valley. The JAX name represents an updated, modern twist of the family name.
The wine is 95% Cabernet Sauvignon with 5% Cabernet Franc and spends 21 months in French oak, 70% of which is new. This wine is full throttle, with boisterous notes of blackberry, blackcurrant, dark chocolate, and graphite. The palate is framed by just enough tannins and acidity to keep it fresh.
