Hippolyte Reverdy Sancerre Blanc 2019
Sancerre is located on the left bank of the upper Loire River, and its 14 communes cover approximately 3,000 hectares of winding valley vineyards ranging up to 1000 feet in elevation, with Sauvignon Blanc and small amounts of Pinot Noir planted on three distinctive soils: limestone, clay and int, all atop Kimmeridgian limestone. The Hippolyte Reverdy family has been making wine here, in the village of Verdigny, since the 17th century. And while their original farm was dedicated to multiple crops, raisinggoats and hobbyist winemaking for local consumption, at the end of WWII, Hippolyte expanded production to accommodate increasing interest and demands from Paris. Today, the domaine remains modest and the family dedicated to their craft, sustainably farming 20 different parcels spread over fourteen hectares, with a total production of 8500 cases.
