For decades growers of Barbera, the grape originating in the Asti countryside, have recognized the superiority of the warmer, lower altitude vineyard area around the hamlet of Nizza. In 2014 the Barbera produced there was elevated with the DOCG appellation designation. Along with this came stricter production regulations for the most concentrated expression of the grape. The Garesio family has two very small vineyards which produce this concentrated, snappy, red berried Barbera. Aged in French barrels and in bottle for the required 18 months, this the finest expression of the variety. Sustainable farming.
