Domaine Fontsainte Gris de Gris Corbieres 2019
Romans planted Domaine de Fontsainte’s first vineyards in the Corbières appellation. The Fontsainte vineyards surround the hamlet of Boutenac in the area known as “The Golden Crescent” which is one of the sunniest in the appellation of Corbières. Vigneron Bruno Laboucarlé believes “great wines are made in the vineyard” so he manages his vines using sustainable methods with as little intervention as possible as they grow in Silica, clay, and limestone subsoils. This delicious Gris de Gris is a saignée rosé made from Grenache Gris— which means Bruno’s rosé is a result of “bleeding” off the initial run after short contact with the skin to concentrate his Corbières rouge. Every year this is one of the most anticipated rosés - generous strawberry and raspberry on the nose and palate with lively, clean acidity that makes the first and second glass disappear quite quickly.
