Granted Cru appellation status in 2005, Beaumes de Venise Rouge is the most important wine produced from the 30 hectare Soard family domaine, located northeast of Avignon in the Southern Rhone Valley. The Soard's organically farmed vineyards are situated on the massif of the Dentelles de Montmirail and much of the surface is laid out in terraces to accommodate the steep slope of the hill. The soil is clay and limestone and the blend is 50% Grenache, 40% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre. Harvest is done by hand and vinification is done parcel-by-parcel. This 2015 was bottled unfiltered after eleven months of aging in cement tank.
