This family-run estate is situated in Castel di Lama in the Ascoli Piceno region of southernmost Le Marche, with vineyard holdings straddling the Abruzzo line. The main vineyard, in Offida, is hilly with eastern exposure and a loose clay soil. The commune of Offida was awarded DOC status in 2001 and DOCG in 2010 celebrating the local Pecorino variety. (This Pecorino bears no relation to the familar sheep’s milk cheeses of the same name.) First planted in the 1950s, this estate winery is managed today by proprietor/winemaker Quinto Fausti and his son Alighiero. Fermented and aged in stainless steel, their vibrant 2017 is medium-bodied, zesty and fun to drink. The entire production is certified organic and all fermentations are spontaneous with minimal sulphur additions.
