Originally established in 1930, the 40-hectare estate of Château la Genestière was acquired by Jean-Claude Garcin in 1944. Jean-Claude and his son Raphaël acquired additional vineyards over time, expanding from Tavel and Lirac production into a special project of producing varietal and regional wines in the rugged garrigue terroir just outside of Tavel. These are high-quality, domaine-produced wines for casual drinking made from traditional Rhone varietals bottled as regional Rouge, Blanc and Rosé. They are farmed and vinified with the same care and attention to detail as the domaine’s more prestigious and expensive AOP wines. The property was purchased in 2015 by Christian Latouche, owner of two domaines in Les Baux-de-Provence. With a dynamic new team in place, Christian has made significant investments in the domaine to maintain the high-quality tradition started by Jean-Claude Garcin.
A blend of Carignan, Cinsault, Clairette, Grenache, and Syrah. The grapes are cooled after harvest, crushed, and pressed after a brief maceration of 24-48 hours. The wine is allowed to settle and goes through temperature-controlled fermentation. Malolactic conversion is blocked to encourage freshness and vivacity. Aging is in stainless steel tanks.
Salmon pink in color, this wine has a mineral nose dotted with fresh red fruits and flowers. Strawberries, and light red fruits abound.
