Clementine Carter is a sister label of Casa Dumetz, an estate created by Sonja Magdevski in 2004 with a focus on Rhône varietals. She produces a minuscule amount of wine – most of which is sold in her Los Alamos tasting room. In addition to making phenomenal wines under the Casa Dumetz and Clementine Carter labels, Sonja has been blending apple cider and wine grapes with noteworthy success. This fresh and floral blend is 50/50 organic Grüner Veltliner grapes from Spear Vineyard and organic heirloom apple cider from Aptos. It’s a bright, citrusy, zesty delight. The Gruner and cider underwent a slow, cool fermentation in stainless steel drums, to heighten aromatics and texture. The blend is bottle conditioned - where the bubbles are made in the bottle like Champagne. Sonja says it goes with everything from Oysters to sloppy joe’s, and only 70 cases exist.
