Chateau Cantillac Rouge Bordeaux Superieur 2019
Commonly referred to as the "Petits Chateaux": Bordeaux's smaller properties, usually in less prestigious communes, tend to produce approachable, easy drinking wines at a fraction of the cost of their famous neighbors. They offer a distinct style of wine unto themselves, less tannic and austere than the classified growths with softer, more generous fruit. Cabernet Sauvignon is rare in these parts, so like this 2019 Bordeaux Superieur the reds are principally Merlot aged with little oak usage. On the palate, the Cantillac aims to please with flavors of juicy cassis and raspberry fruit, savory herbs and bright, unobtrusive acidity.
