Started in 1678, Champagne Tarlant is about terroir. Now run by the 12th generation of the Tarlant family, they are unlike many Grower Champagnes, which work to achieve a "house" style through dosage and blending. Champagne Tarlant produces mostly Brut Zero wines with the focus on the fruit and the land. With 14 estate hectares, across 4 crus, the estate dots the Marne Valley and benefits from the river's moderating temperature influence on these hillside vineyards. Each plot from the winery is harvested and vinified separately, another factor that makes Tarlant stand out from other wineries.

Sourced exclusively from the Les Crayons. A chalky parcel of 65-yrs old vines originally planted by Louis Tarlant, Benoît's great-great grandfather. 50% Chardonnay, 50% Pinot Noir, 100% barrel fermentation with the lees regularly stirred back into the wine; remains in barrel until May. No malolactic fermentation. but it’s 85% 2000 vintage with the remaining components coming from ‘99, ‘98, ‘97, and the legendary ‘96 vintage. A singular Champagne that’s rich, full bodied, earthy.
