Alright, listen up everyone:
If there is one thing we should all be excited about right now, it’s the fact that the best holiday of the year is around the corner. I take Halloween v e r y seriously; for me, it is a lifestyle and I have always been happiest in crisp cool air, surrounded by changing leaves…and judging by all of the Halloween movies that are suddenly popping up on all of my streaming platforms, I am not alone. This one is for all of my fellow spooky season weirdos out there; the “autumnally-inclined,” so to speak!
I know all of the self-proclaimed fall-loving folks out there are snapping pics of pumpkin spice lattes, apple orchards, and haunted corn mazes as we speak, but why limit yourself to these classics when you can enjoy some Halloween cheese before, during, and after all previously stated autumnal pursuits?
Right now I am really excited to offer TWO different spooky cheeses! The first, Marin French’s Petite BOO is a lovely little ash-ripened triple cream: super buttery, smooth, and almost terrifyingly delicious. The second, Moses Reaper from Jasper Hill is probably my favorite soft cheese that we have right now. It’s a play on their usual Moses Sleeper, also ripened with ash to give it that darker, almost charcoal–y hue, and then like the Petite BOO, colored with annatto so you get a gorgeous, gooey orange paste when you cut into the wheel. I’d show you in the photo, but that would ruin the surprise.
These cheeses are not only the perfect seasonal treat, but they are also going to be extremely limited - I do not anticipate them even lasting until Halloween. So treat yourself at some point over the next few weeks and make yourself a little spooky cheese board while you watch Hocus Pocus, Practical Magic, The Craft, or whatever other Halloween movie you love to dust off every year. I personally will be enjoying some Moses Reaper while I revisit American Horror Story: Coven, some early seasons of True Blood, and an A24 film or two…Hereditary, anyone?
Anyways, come get your spooky cheese before it disappears,
Peace, love, and cheese,
Lisa
