Through war, the vinous death of it’s founder, and two near corporate financial collapses Champagne A.R. Lenoble has remained a wholly family owned enterprise that has never had a stockholder. The current (fourth) generation, Anne and Antoine Malassagne, oversee a glorious homage to the nobility of champagne, where the moniker Lenoble comes from. They practice bottle fermentation solely in magnum, have lead the movement in lower dosage levels in order to show terrior, and have just begun a transparent trumpeting of the base vintage on most of their bottlings. This Cuvee Intense Non-Vintage (base vintage ’13) is bone dry but with a soft mousse that leads to a bracingly smooth sensation that will pair perfectly with fatty fish and salty hors d’oeuvres.
